The Metzeler Formula 600 Championship had a new visitor this weekend, local rider and ex British Superbike competitor Lee Jackson was present and looked stupendously quick on his all singing all dancing Honda CBR 600.
Championship leader Gary May was indeed still nursing his injury from the Saturday was but was relieved of any immediate pressure after sadly, his nearest rival this season in Michael Price was declared unfit to ride for the weekend after a KO on Saturday also.
So the lights went out and Jackson dealt May the same killer hand for each race as he dived into the 1.32`s to make Gary May`s life very difficult at the front. Each race had a similar look to it, Jackson and May would set of together but the fatigue of May due to injury and the speed of Jackson combined was too much for Gary to handle and Jacko stormed to three out of three.
On the positive side for May, his nearest rival on circuit, Paul Charman, had a disastrous round plagued with bike problems and the only rider anywhere near posing a threat to Gary in second was James Henry who made a good account of himself with three thirds over the weekend.
Darryl Cox and Tom Meehan both had encouraging rides and despite Mike Edwards unfortunate luck, when he and his bike are in tact, they look a threat.
With Jackson stating that he will be competing in the remainder of this years championship, May has a new contender and provided he is fit for rounds five and six at Pembrey next month, we could be in for an epic battle.
